Our Vision – Human Rights as a National Priority
The National Council for Human Rights aims to protect, promote and develop human rights in Egypt under the provisions of the Constitution. In the light of international conventions and covenants, we cooperate with local and international organizations to make human rights concerns a national priority. At the individual level, we receive citizens' complaints and raise the awareness of citizens about their rights and the legal procedures to be followed. We refer such complaints to the relevant authorities and follow up on them to ensure the implementation of best practices and to achieve better protection of human rights. At the State level, we provide opinion, proposals and recommendations to the Egyptian Government to protect and promote human rights.
Our Mission – Promoting Human Rights in Egypt
Through the development and implementation of the National Plan, we seek to ensure the protection and dissemination of a human rights culture among all levels of the State and society. We organize conferences, sessions and round-table discussions and publish regular reports that reflect recent developments in the human rights field in Egypt. In addition, we work with other counterparts such as the National Council for Women and the National Council for Motherhood & Childhood to develop educational programs, media campaigns and train State officials. Through these initiatives, we enhance the efficiency of State institutions in the promotion of human rights.
