NCHR holds panel discussion on strengthening individual complaints handling mechanisms

The the National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) convened a panel discussion under the theme “Exchange of Experiences Among Systems Handling Individual Complaints”, aimed at strengthening complaint-handling mechanisms and enhancing cooperation among institutions concerned with human rights.

The meeting brought together representatives from the NCHR Complaints Committee, the Cabinet’s Unified Government Complaints System, the National Council for Women, and the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, in addition to a number of journalists and media professionals engaged in this field.

Participants discussed key challenges facing complaint-handling systems and discussed proposed solutions to improve responsiveness to individual grievances, thereby reinforcing the role of such mechanisms in protecting rights and addressing citizens' concerns. Emphasis was placed on the importance of coordinated action among stakeholders to ensure effective, transparent, and responsive complaint systems.

At the conclusion of the meeting, participants recommended further development of complaint-handling channels, greater integration of digital technologies for case tracking, and increased training for personnel working in this domain to enhance the quality and efficiency of services provided to the public.

This meeting forms part of NCHR’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its role in handling individual complaints, in line with its mandate under Law No. 94 of 2003, as amended by Law No. 197 of 2017.
