The National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) held a meeting with Nada al-Nashif, United Nations Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mohamed al-Nassour, Head of the Middle East Section in the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and Elena Panova, UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt. The meeting focused on implementing Egypt's first human rights strategy.
Khattab expressed NCHR appreciation of the valuable technical candid and constructive conversation with the visiting delegation as well as the valuable assistance provided by the European Union and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, with the aim to implement Egypt’s first HR strategy and expressed s keen interest to strengthen joint partnership.
The NCHR President extended her appreciation for the fruitful discussion during the meeting, noting the obvious keenness to achieve an Egyptian success story in line with the political will represented by the launch of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of the National Human Rights Strategy (NHRS) and the following key statement supporting the promotion of human rights in the country. She also stressed that the NCHR has started the actual implementation of the relevant activities which include conducting a dialogue with University students on the national human rights strategy and their pivotal role in its implementation.
