Moushira Khattab praises the role of the Permanent Committee for Human Rights

The National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) chaired by Ambassador Moushira Khattab, President of NCHR, met with the delegation of the Permanent Supreme Committee for Human Rights, headed by Ambassador Khaled Al-Bakli, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Human Rights and Head of the Technical Secretariat of the Committee, and in the presence of the members of NCHR. This meeting comes within the framework of the government's comment on the NCHR fifteenth annual report, and the launch of the technical secretariat of the Supreme Committee of the report on the implementation of the strategy during its first year.

At the beginning of the meeting, the President of NCHR stressed the important role played by the Supreme Committee for the preparation of the National Strategy for Human Rights, its report on the occasion of the one year anniversary of its issuance, stressing the great effort and professionalism that establishes the existence of a real will on the part of the state to implement the goals of the strategy in a declared manner and with absolute transparency.
Khattab indicated that the state followed a clear and straightforward approach in preparing the national strategy for Human Rights, in order to enhance efforts to support democratic mechanisms in Egypt, open spaces for political participation and freedom of expression, and support the capabilities of Human Rights organizations in consolidating rights and freedoms.

The ambassador explained to me that NCHR will issue its sixteenth annual report in the coming days, stressing that the report is objective and professional and honestly expresses the council's vision based on the constitution and international standards for the human rights situation in Egypt.

Ambassador Khaled Al-Baqli stressed that the committee works in one system for the benefit of the state and the service of Human Rights, and that the political leadership pays attention and preference to the file of human rights and public freedoms, and that the initiatives of the President of the Republic are taking steps towards societal change and the protection of human rights at various levels, and the committee has reviewed its work plan and its role in The government's interaction with the annual reports of NCHR, as well as the methodology for preparing the government's comment on reports of NCHR.
