The African Network of National Human Rights Institutions concluded its general assembly meetings in the city of Accra, Ghana, and held its fourteenth annual conference on encouraging a human rights approach in the business and trade sector. Dr. Moushira Khattab, President of the National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) was elected as an alternate member of the Accreditation Subcommittee of the Global Alliance of Independent National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) established in accordance with the "Paris Principles". Khattab expressed her deep appreciation for this election which reflects confidence in NCHR in Egypt.
The Subcommittee on Accreditation carries out a periodic evaluation of the extent to which independent national human rights institutions adhere to the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly known as the "Paris Principles" and accordingly, the rating of each institution is determined. NCHR ranks "A" and is scheduled to undergo its periodic evaluation process next November.
