The National Council for Human Rights (NCHR), chaired by Ambassador Moushira Khattab, welcomed a delegation comprising representatives from the political and human rights offices of the European Union member state embassies in Cairo. The delegation included representatives from the embassies of Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Hungary, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, and Germany, as well as officials from the political office and the Human Rights Section of the European Union Delegation in Cairo.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Mahmoud Karem, Vice President of the Council, alongside Council members Dr. Hoda Awad, Dr. Mohamed Mamdouh, Mr. Hani Ibrahim, and Mr. Abdel-Gawad Ahmed.
The discussions focused on the NCHR's efforts as outlined in its strategic framework and action plan, aimed at enhancing and promoting human rights, fostering awareness, and ensuring the practice of these rights.
During the meeting, NCHR President, Vice President, and members presented a range of activities and initiatives undertaken at local, regional, and international levels, including engagement with international human rights mechanisms.
The EU delegation expressed appreciation for NCHR’s efforts and its role in fostering a culture of human rights. They emphasized the importance of maintaining constructive dialogue and exchanging expertise to strengthen mutual cooperation.
This meeting comes as part of NCHR's ongoing efforts to build partnerships with international and regional entities, supporting its mission to advance the human rights framework in line with best practices and international standards.
