NCHR lauds the appointment of Counselor Boulos Fahmy as President of Egyptian Supreme Constitutional Court

The National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) has lauded the historic decree of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi appointing Counselor Boulos Fahmy as head of the Supreme Constitutional Court, as of February 9th 2022.

Ambassador Moushira Khattab, President of the National Council for Human Rights (NCHR), welcomed this historic move, noting that he presidential decree is testament to President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's "insightful vision and his human rights approach”, being a giant step toward strengthening civil and political rights for all Egyptian citizens to be added to the previous important steps assuring that all Egyptians are entitled to enjoy their full rights. The decree also reflects the President’s determination to implement the national human rights strategy, she said.

The NCHR President emphasized that the historic presidential decree adds to the President’s insightful decision that establish the foundation of a new republic in which the political leadership holds in high value the civil rights and the principle of equal opportunities for all citizens without any discrimination based on religion, gender, or any other reason.

 “With this decree, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has boosted the implementation of Article (53) of the Egyptian constitution, and the efforts aimed at boosting citizenship and equal opportunities among all Egyptians”, emphasized Khattab.

The National Council for Human Rights congratulates all Egyptians with this historic move, which was greatly appreciated by all segments of the society, highlighting its support for such giant unprecedented move by the Egyptian State. The NCHR extended its appreciation and gratitude for the Egyptian President, stressing its full support for similar moves that embody the content of the national human rights strategy and his statements during the launch of the strategy.
