Ambassador Moushira Khattab meets with the Speaker of the Arab Parliament

the visit of the Speaker of the Arab Parliament to NCHR, which is one of the national institutions that operates under the constitution and the law in the promotion and protection of human rights and public freedoms.

Khattab added that the Egyptian state under the rule of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has taken unprecedented steps to promote and strengthen human rights, most notably with the launch of the national human rights strategy and the cancellation of the extension of the state of emergency in the country, among other notable achievements in this area.

For his part, Al Asoumi extended his thanks and appreciation for being received at the NCHR, stressing that the Egyptian state has taken distinguished measures to strengthen human rights under the rule of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He emphasized that Egypt has set a comprehensive approach to promote human rights, and establish a pioneer and advanced human rights system in the country. Ambassador Moushira Khattab, President of the National Council for Human Rights (NCHR), today received Dr. Adel Abdel Rahman Al Asoumi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament (AP), and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Observatory for Human Rights (AOHR), at the NCHR’s headquarters in Cairo.

Furthermore, the Speaker of the Arab Parliament emphasized that the National Council for Human Rights in Egypt comprises a range of prominent figures having extensive expertise in the field of human rights capable of exerting valuable efforts to strengthen human rights and principles of democracy.

The Arab Parliament was established upon the Arab League resolution no. 292 which was issued in the Arab League’s 17th ordinary session that took place in Algeria on March 23rd, 2005.
