The National Council for Human Rights (NCHR), in partnership with the Arab Organization for Human Rights and the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights, is organizing a workshop on the “Legislative Prospects of the National Human Rights Strategy: The Alternative Sentences Bill Model”. The event shall be attended by different stakeholders from the State’s institutions and civil society organizations.
The workshop aims to foresee the legislative prospects of the national human rights strategy, which was announced by the Standing Supreme Committee of Human Rights, under the patronage of the President of the Republic, on September 11th, 2021, which comprised a number of key legislative entitlements in fields of civic, political, economic, social and cultural rights, as well as empowering Most Eligible Care-Receiving segments of the society.
Furthermore, the workshop prioritizes conducting a profound dialogue between various stakeholders on different aspects of penal modernization, alternative sentences and the bill’s addressing of freedom depriving sentences in simple crimes, which shall contribute to reducing social burden’s and assisting the state to avoid unnecessary economic burdens.
