Ambassador Moushira Khattab meets with Nile Valley youth (Sudan, Egypt, and South Sudan)

Ambassador Moushira Khattab, President of the National Council for Human Rights (NCHR), participation in the dialogue session organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports on human rights as part of the fourth edition of the Nile Valley Unity Project “Future Visions” from 17th- 21st February.

The dialogue session was attended by Ambassador Mohamed Al-Orabi, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, and moderated by the media, Nashaat Al-Daihy, and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, and Dr. Tariq Rahmi, Governor of Gharbia.

During the event, the NCHR President highlighted her happiness to participate in the fourth edition of the Nile Valley Unity Project “Future Visions”, extending her thanks and appreciation for the Minister of Youth and Sports for organising this meeting that contributes to strengthening ties between youth of Nile Valley countries.

Khattab emphasized that the President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi prioritizes strengthening ties with fraternal African countries, and reinforce supporting their rights in all international events.

She also noted that the Egyptian President is keen to reinforce the African identity of Egypt and to participate in all African events as part of the state’s national priorities.

Ambassador Moushira Khattab highlighted the efforts of the African leaders in the field of strengthening human rights and promoting values of peace, tolerance and acceptance of others in the African continent including Nelson Mandela who defeated apartheid in South Africa and emphasized strengthening national unity through sports.

The NCHR President stressed that the launch of the national human rights strategy in Egypt signals a paradigm shift in the country and raised the bar for strengthening civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights.

The Nile Valley Unity Project targets 150 participants from Sudan, Egypt and South Sudan countries in the 14-17 years old age group. The project aims to raise the participating youth awareness by engaging them in a fruitful dialogue and boost their understanding of the culture of dialogue and its impact on building peace in communities.
